Being alone can be some of the most peaceful memories you’ll ever have in your life. When you really think about it as a woman, most of our duties in life are involved at the workplace or around family, children, spouse etc. It will come a day when you have so many more non-negotiables. But if you’re single like me,RIGHT NOW. It’s time to realise this phase in your life is actually a blessing so stop seeing it as a curse. The way to being happy alone is all about being able to harness this moment and champion it fully so it will leave you never regretting a moment you spent alone all to yourself.

1. COOK

The way to be happy alone is to not miss a meal because you feel down about things. Forget about the guy who didn’t make time for you (His loss). The people at work that try to belittle your positive spirit. Instead take 30 minutes and cook something fast and nutritious that you will enjoy. It’s easy as reading a step by step meal prep guide online or watching a video on Youtube. The body must be nourished. If you neglect this it could send you in a downward spiral of eating disorders and malfunctions in the way your body operates normally. Stay hydrated too by drinking refreshing beverages. This could just be water or you could vamp it up like I do, by adding sliced or squeezed fresh lemon.

2. READ

The way to being happy alone is reading its one of the most therapeutic activities. My trail of thoughts tend to stop once I start to read because I engage myself in the story so much. And have a chance to be in another characters shoes for however long I choose to. Reading expands your awareness of many things it may even give you ideas that you could implement in your life. I’m currently reading ‘Strong Woman’ By Baroness Karren Brady. Incase you don’t know who Karren is she sits beside one of the Top Entrepreneurs in the world Lord Alan Sugar on his hit show on BBC One ‘The Apprentice’ . Karren is his trusted confidant and always exhibits excellent verbal communication and wisdom in business.

3. MEDITATE

The main purpose of meditation is to connect the individual to their breath and watch the thoughts that come and go whilst remaining in the present. Plus, I understand it’s hard for some people to sit still for some amount of time. But if you try it out, it has the possibility of reducing any anxiety you feel and re-connecting you to the God given source inside you that supersedes anything negative you are thinking. It can also lower blood pressure. Trust the process and give it a try today.

4. The way to being happy alone – PLAN

Perhaps you’re not in the financial position to do all the things you’d love to experience one day. Well there is no harm whatsoever in you planning it all on a piece of paper. Write down everything and I mean every single thing. The people you want to meet, the places you want to go, the spiritual growth you want to achieve, the amount of money you want to earn, the people you see yourself negotiating deals in board rooms with. Be as detailed and explicit as you like. Besides, visualising it will give you a mood boost and a sense of ‘Yes I can do this’ too which will set you up for success.

5. ADVENTURE

The way to being happy alone is to explore the city you live in. London is one of the most visited cities in the world, and there are many places I’m not even familiar with or still haven’t seen yet. Wherever you are in the world start off by hopping on a local bus tour. Yes play tourist for the day! Get to know the hot spots then venture out. Doing activities like this will build your confidence too because you won’t feel ashamed for being out alone. you will truly embrace it. And this will transfer to any other outdoor scenario.

6. The way to being happy alone – EXERCISE

Finally, this one fits together with number 1. I personally think this is the best out of all of them. Investing in your body naturally by lifting weights, jogging, or stretching can change the outlook of your day. Exercising in the morning wakes up all the organs and reminds them to be on high alert throughout the day. You’re boosting blood circulation which has a positive effect on cell renewal and the immune system. You’re building resilience in your heart (physically and emotionally). Skin can appear brighter too because more oxygen is being transported more efficiently around the circulatory system.

7. CREATE

The way to be happy alone. The main way I harness my true inner power is by creating something different. Sometimes this inspiration occurs sporadically and I go with it. When you create from the bottom of your heart it has the ability to change lives, gravitate the right people to you and equip you with more self esteem. For you to believe in it and execute it speaks volumes because whilst many people are down playing their ideas you are uplifting yours.

8. The way to being happy alone – AFFIRM

Take the time to affirm all the things you want in life. Say it aloud. “I want a partner, I want more income, I want good friendships, I want more free time, I want better health, I want clearer skin, I want to love God more” Then add affirmations “I am loveable, I am worthy, I am fun, I am clever, I am energetic, I am beautiful, I am one with God.”

Everything you say aloud repeatedly you will eventually do and believe it.
