Make the above your mantra. ‘Overcoming one fear a day can take the strain away’.

Today I overcame a fear that at the time seemed somewhat unbearable. Eating the eyes of a limb lacking species. You guessed it FISH. Since a child, eating fish was the norm but their eyes never stood out to me as being enjoyably edible. Well today they got my attention and stood out for good.

The fear

Willing to give it a go, doubts began to arise and cloud my judgement.

‘What if I get sick?’

‘What if it tastes awful?’

’What if it puts me off eating fish completely?’

Consequently, the thoughts continued to swirl around in my mind in a similar way I imagined the delicacy reacting in my tummy.

Ultimately, fears can kill dreams, ambitions, and an individuals highest potential. As well as shorten life span expectancy, hinder opportunities and affect those around us.

Run towards your fear

In the meantime, still contemplating on whether I should go ahead and devour the fish eye. I began to think what would one gain from doing this.

Eventually, the questions I posed were re-framed and I began to wonder and question what could I possibly gain from this.

‘Are fish eyes good for you?’

‘What do fish eye’s taste like?’

As a result, I found out it tasted like oysters, is rich in fatty acids, and stimulates brain cells. I felt more comfortable with the idea and less phased by my initial fears. Besides my gran ate them with hot sauce and remained alive afterwards, so it couldn’t be that bad 😀.
