Recently sheet masks has been my necessity. The benefits of using sheet masks are exhaustive but I will touch on a few points that resonate with my great experience.
Easy to use and dispose of its a necessity that should be in everyone’s cabin bag, beach bag or hand bag.
On holiday skin takes times to climatize, the process could include (and not limited to) dryness, pealing (flaking), redness.
What is a sheet mask?
A sheet mask is an ancient beauty product. Born in the 1980s it is highly sought after from the Eastern to Western culture. Drenched in skin loving ingredients it comes folded normally.
Benefits of using a face sheet mask on holiday
The exposure of the sun as well as a new climate can take a toll on the skin. Therefore the epidermis (outer layer of the skin) must be protected and maintained. This is where face sheet masks become your hero. Whether your on the beach or chilling by the pool, sit in some shade and allow it to absorb. Another valid reason to relax and unwind whilst catering to your skins needs and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
How to use a sheet mask
A basic habit one should adhere to is cleansing the face prior to application. A clean base enables the ingredients to absorb easily because any visible barriers have been removed. Plus, hands will be hygienic before touching the face. Facial wipes are another option incase a sink and running water isn’t near or available.
Generally the instructions are to leave it on the face for 10-15min. Whereas I allow it to sit on the face for 30min. By this time the mask has completely dried out. A key indicator that all ingredients are sucked in. Some might argue that it should be removed before it completely dries but I see maximum results and my skin loves this lengthy duration!
Extra benefits of using sheet masks
The benefits of using sheet masks doesn’t end there. Boost the skin some more by toning the skin and then evenly apply a facial serum before smoothening the sheet mask. Any excess product in the packet can be kept in the fridge overnight (to be used the next day as you please) or placed directly on the neck and ears as a treatment. Yes ears need attention too. They age!
Remember!
- If used in the daytime ensure that SPF 50-70 is used afterwards to shield the skin once again from harsh rays and free radicals.
- Make sure to check SPF suitability for sunbathing which can be found in the description.
- If used at night time apply a cream or oil after specific to your skin type.
Let’s reveal the masks that grabbed my skins attention on vacay 🙂
ANTI AGEING – Boosts collagen and elasticity in the skin.
PURIFYING – Unclogs pores and balances excessive sebum (oil production).
MOISTURE– Restores the skins moisture levels.
BRIGHTENING – Whitening effect on the skin which helps reduce hyper/hypo-pigmentation revealing more even skin and tighter skin.
Overall face sheets masks leave you feeling like you have had an express facial (for a small price).Instantly skin feels soft and supple. It appears glowing and super hydrated. Which are key components for healthy looking skin.
